Opening ceremony of the SMART Innovation Centre Ostrava

On Thursday, May 23rd 2019 we visited the opening ceremony of the SMART Innovation Centre (SIC) Ostrava. The event was also attended by Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček and governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region Ivo Vondrák.

Business and Innovation Agency was represented by a team of project managers led by Petr Kolář, Director of the Business Environment Development Section, as well as our colleagues from the API Regional office in Ostrava.

The SIC Ostrava project is drawing on support from Call II of the support programme Infrastructure Services (OPEIC) of 141,3 mil. CZK, total eligible expenditure of the project is 283 million CZK.

The aim of SIC Ostrava is not only to support the economic development of the region, develop its competitiveness, but also to enhance technology transfer of research and development results into practice through creating of innovative entrepreneurship environment in the field of SMART regions technology projects. Other focus is on regional economic development and cooperation between companies and scientific workplaces, as well as on knowledge and technology transfer between universities and business entities and the transfer of results from Research and Development into a practice.
